Ishfaq Ahmed looks set to leave KBFC for Tata

ISHFAQ AHMED IS seemingly on his way to the new ISL franchise being launched this year by the Tata Group.

The former winger from Srinagar who has played for many of India's major clubs including Mohun Bagan, East Bengal, Dempo, Salgaocar, Mohammedan Sporting, Pune FC, Mumbai FC as well as ISL franchise Kerala Blasters, has been an assisting to KBFC head coach Steve Coppell.

But for the upcoming season the Blasters have decided to hire the services of former Shillong Lajong head coach and accomplished gaffer Thangboi Singto who will take on a larger role within the franchise and its youth development efforts, as well as be an assistant coach with the first team. This move corresponds with ISL's move towards becoming a legitimate league and a possible implementation of club license among its franchises.

But Ishfaq reportedly has a big offer on his plate already. His contributions to KBFC's turnaround campaign that saw them finish 2nd in the points table last year has not gone unnoticed and the Tata Group owned franchise wants him on board as assistant coach.

Ishfaq apparently is yet to make up his mind and KBFC are also keen to keep him, albeit in a new role. But if the grapevine is anything to go by, he is likely to make a move to Jamshedpur.
