Australia SS: Srikanth v Praneeth in QF; tough outing for Sindhu & Saina

A REPEAT of Singapore Super Series final to take place at the Australia SS quarter-finals as compatriots Kidambi Srikanth and Sai Praneeth play against each other. In Singapore, the result favoured Praneeth but Srikanth would want to continue his winning run and get closer to clinching another SS title.

After defeating World No. 1 Son Wan Ho in the semi-final of Indonesia SS, he did the same in Australia in the pre-quarters. A hard-fought win for the Indian 15-21, 21-13, 21-13.

Meanwhile, Praneeth defeated Chinese Huang Yuxiang 21-15, 18-21, 21-13.

The head-to-head count between Praneeth and Srikanth favours the former 5-1. Once again it will be a treat for the fans to watch these two play against each other.

On the other hand, women's singles shuttler PV Sindhu trumped Chen Xiaoxin in straight games 21-13, 21-18. She will be facing a tough opponent in the quarters in top seed Tai Tzu Ying or Intanon.

Saina Nehwal too had a positive outing 21-15, 20-22, 21-14 against Soniia Cheah. But she had fight for her spot as Soniia made her sweat for the points. After winning the opening round comfortably, Soniia pushed Saina into a decider by taking the second game.

But in the final game, Saina didn't give her opponent any room for a comeback and won it with ease.

Doubles shuttlers, Ashwini Ponnappa/Sikki Reddy and Satwik/Chirag Shetty ended their respective campaigns. Ashwini/Sikki lost to 7th seeds Shiho Tanaka/Koharu Yonemoto 18-21, 21-18, 21-13 while Satwik/Chirag lost to 8th seeds Chen Hung/Wang Chi-Lin 21-16, 21-18.
