We will analyse our defeat just like we analyse our wins, says Kohli

TEAM INDIA succumbed to a massive defeat against Pakistan in the finals of the Champions Trophy at the Oval yesterday. And, India skipper Virat Kohli minced no words while lauding the Pakistan team for their impressive performance.

The Delhi-lad termed his team’s performance as a one-off and credited the arch-rivals for displaying composure in pressure situations. During the post-match press conference, Kohli was asked whether it was difficult for him to sit in the dressing room and watch his batting line-up collapse. The 28-year-old conceded,

“Ofcourse, I felt bad. It pinches you when you don’t contribute much to the game. But the game has taught us that once you are back to the pavilion, your job is done. You cannot do anything after beyond that point.”

Chasing a total of 339, the men in blue were bundled out for 158 in just 30 overs. When asked whether the Indian team needed to analyse defeats, Kohli replied,

“Just like how we analyse our victories, we analyse our defeats as well. We learn with every game we play. We are always open to learning new things. We cannot ignore failures or dwell too much on them. There has to be a good balance between the two. The failures in the final always look magnified to the viewers. But we have to analyse in order to improve our games. There has never been a game when we have felt we don’t have to improve any further.”

Kohli added that his side will have to focus on the upcoming assignments. His team is set to play five ODIs and one T20 starting June 23, in the Caribbean.
