Indonesia SSP: After Lee Chong, Prannoy defeats Chen Long to enter SF; easy win for Srikanth

HS PRANNOY has released his inner beast at the Indonesia Super Series Premier. After defeating top seed Lee Chong Wei in the pre-quarters, he got the best out of 8th seed Cheng Long in QF.

The unseeded Indian defeated the Chinese in a hard-fought three-game match, 21-18, 16-21, 21-19. Prannoy was in great form, even more after his win against the top seed Malaysian.

Winning the first game, made him the favourite to win this match but the Chinese wouldn't make it easy. Chen Long bounced back, took the second game in his favour, pushing the match to a decider.

It was a closely contested final game. Chen was leading by a point at the interval and post it, Prannoy unleashed some amazing shots which left the Chinese stunned. Chen kept coming back in the game but the Indian was determined to win the match and rightly deserved to do so with great fashion.

In the semi-final, Prannoy will either face Englishman Rajiv Ouseph or Kazumasa Sakai.

Meanwhile Kidambi Srikanth had an easy outing against Tzu Wei Wang 21-15, 21-14. Srikanth will next play second seed Son Wan Ho in the semis.
