Indonesia SSP: Prannoy & Srikanth in RD 2 while Praneeth ousted

MIXED RESULTS for Indian men's singles shuttlers at the Indonesia Super Series Premier.

HS Prannoy had a great outing against Anthony Ginting in the opening round. After coming from a break, Prannoy showed he is well refreshed and has got his rhythm back.

Defeated the Indonesian in straight games 21-13, 21-18. The first game was won with ease by the Indian but the tides changed in the second as Ginting was leading at the interval. He won a series of points and at one point it looked it this would go for a decider but Prannoy was determined to win the match in straight games, changing the result in his favour.

Prannoy will next face top seed Lee Chong Wei.

Kidambi Srikanth fought hard to earn his spot in round  two against Wong Wing Vincent 21-15, 17-21, 21-16 in the opening round. Winning the opening round boosted Srikanth's confidence and performance but Vincent pushed the match into a decider after taking the second game.

The final game saw Srikanth in good control as he won the match. He now faces Jan O Jorgensen in round two.

On the other hand, Thailand GPG winner Sai Praneeth was trumped by second seed Son Wan Ho in straight games 21-14, 21-18. Similar was the case in this match like the one between Prannoy and Ginting but the only difference, here the result didn't fall in favour of the Indian.

Men's doubles duo of Satwik/Chirag Shetty lost to Alfian/Ardianto 9-21, 19-21. The young Indian duo gained entry after winning their qualifiers and showed great grit in the second game against the Indonesians in the main round but it was too late for them to get back.

The women's doubles duo of Ashwini Ponnappa/Sikki Reddy fought hard to win the battle but could not do so as they lost 21-19, 19-21, 13-21. Winning the first game made them confident but the following two games, the Indonesian pair Dian/Nadya were just too good and clinched the match.
