Shuttlers receive their passports tomorrow: here's the struggle they had to go through for them
GOOD NEWS for the shuttlers who were struggling to get their passports and were on the verge of missing out on a prestigious event like Indonesia Super Series Premier.
Sikki Reddy tweeted this good news to all her fans. And also thanked Go Sports Foundation and VFS Global (who deals with visa related issues).
Guys good news, our passports has been dispatched and we will get it by tomorrow. Thank you so much @GoSportsVoices @VFSGlobal 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Sikki told TFG,
"Vijay Goel (Sports Minister) sir personally texted and helped, really means a lot to us."
He also tweeted:

But read below to know how they had to struggle for the same.
On 6th June, Sikki took to Twitter asking for help from External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. The help they were seeking for was regarding their passports.
Sikki stated all the details regarding the issue on Twitter addressed to minister Sushma.

TFG spoke to Prannoy who shared the details.
"We applied for Canada visas last Monday and haven't received it yet."
He took to Twitter too this morning, stating the same
Well looks like no Indonesia Open this year too because of no Passport!! No help from Canada Vfs till now🙁 #disappointing @sikkireddy
— PRANNOY HS (@PRANNOYHSPRI) June 8, 2017
There was increased tension among the players because tomorrow, Friday, the team that needs to be present in Indonesia for the tournament will be travelling. Since the passports had not arrived, the players wouldn't have been able to travel and therefore missing out on the tournament.
It is a World Super Series Premier tournament and missing the same would cost these shuttlers valuable ranking points and game time too.
Sikki in her tweets has also stated a suggestion to these visa related issues,
"Every year we play similar tournaments across the globe. At least for sports persons, I feel that there should be a minimum of 5 years given of visas for every country."

Which will be very helpful to all the sports persons.

Several fans and well wishers too joined the demand via tweets asking to help the shuttlers in need. There were also some tweets that stated
"Why are the players put into such a situation where they need to deal with off court issues instead of concentrating on their game."
I don't get it.Is there noo admin team for badminton India team to cater these type of needs, while players concentrate on playing/ training
— Kamalkanth (@msbikk) June 7, 2017
This is a valid point and the administration and those in authority must look into this and resolve it for the players so that they just have to focus on their game.
Finally, their wish has been fulfilled and they can happily travel for their respective tournaments. TFG sends wishes for the shuttlers who will be seen competing next week.
