#TFGinterview – I’m not an underdog Against Angela Lee – Istela Nunes

Brazil’s Istela Nunes is all set to challenge Angela Lee for the ONE Atomweight title at Dynasty of Heroes. The 24-year-old comes into the fight with a 5-0 record and will be looking to put an end to the undefeated run of Angela.

In her last fight, Istela edged out Japanese veteran Mei Yamaguchi. This win was crucial on her pursuit of the title shot and the Brazilian is sure that she will enjoy her fight against her Singapore counterpart.

Istela Nunes: I worked hard for this chance and I'm sure I'll enjoy it           

Despite her strong record, Istela was projected as the underdog throughout the buildup. Angela’s poster girl image in the promotion could have well been a reason for this. But when quizzed about the same, Istela confidently said that she is not the underdog in this fight.

Istela Nunes: I do not see myself as an underdog. At the time of the cage, it will be only me and she will see who the best is.        

Angela, meanwhile, comes into the fight after her recent win against Jenny Huang.

This will be Angela’s second title defense and as per the challenger, the pressure is piled up on the champion.

Istela Nunes: I do not feel pressure. Who is the champion and it's she who fights at home and she I will simply enter the cage and spoil her party and I will become the champion of the one championship.

If the Brazilian manages to get a win against Angela, it is bound to go down as an iconic moment in the promotion’s history and Istela is well aware of the stakes.

Istela Nunes: My training was great I trained with the best and I know that this fight will put me on the plate that I really deserve to be.

The title fight between Istela Nunes and Angela Lee is scheduled for ONE Championship: Dynasty of Heroes on May 26, 2017.
