This week in IMPACT History: Mike Tenay joins the announce team

This week in IMPACT Wrestling history was special for the announce team, as legendary announcer Mike Tenay joined the table. 

Although not at the forefront of the entertainment in IMPACT Wrestling and Xplosion matches, Tenay was a major part of the broadcasts. He joined the company at its’ birth in 2002 when Jeff Jarrett personally asked him to come on board, and he called every single episode of IMPACT Wrestling, Xplosion, and multiple PPVs for over 13 years.

He brought color and elation to the already exhilarating matches, explaining every detail of what viewers were seeing inside the ring. He became both a fan and industry favorite, and Jeff Jarrett dubbed him the “voice of the fans.” In one of his most talked about moments with IMPACT, he made the major announcement of the blockbuster singing of Sting.

He left the company in 2015 and has since retired from the wrestling business, but his voice and legacy continue with IMPACT Wrestling.
