#TFGinterview: This is the fight that I always Wanted – Agilan Thani

Malaysia’s Agilan Thani will have the biggest test of his career when he steps into the cage at ONE: Dynasty of Heroes to face Ben Askren.

Askren, widely considered to be one of the best Welterweight fighters out there, currently holds an unbeaten record of 15-0 to his name. The American will be looking to keep the ONE Welterweight title around his waist this weekend and standing in his way would be Thani.

Thani has an impressive unbeaten record of his own. He is 7-0 in his professional career with six of his wins coming in ONE championship.

The Malaysian knows that it is not going to be an easy fight.

Agilan Thani: First of all, nothing is easy. I worked to get here and it’s not easy to get this opportunity. it’s not as easy as people think.

But he is sure of one thing: this is the fight that he always wanted. With six wins to his name in ONE Championship, it was about time that he got a shot at the championship.

Agilan Thani: Well, it’s the fight that I have always wanted because I have fought six times in the ONE championship cage and I have been promised a step up each and every time. But I didn’t get what I wanted so in my last fight I thought I should challenge the best there is. Because that’s what fighting is all about at the end of the day to see how much I have learned to improve as a mixed martial artist.

With a strong record to his name, Thani is indeed a credible opponent for Askren. And if ‘The Alligator’ manages to put an end to Askren’s lengthy winning streak, he is bound to have a place in the history books. Before the big fight, he also had a message for his fans, who have been giving some immense support to the Malaysian.
