‘Sachin: A Billion Dreams’ is a biopic compiled from over 10,000 hrs of footage: Tendulkar

SACHIN: A BILLION DREAMS, a biographical film based on the life of iconic Sachin Tendulkar, is all set to hit the cinemas on May 26.

While the legendary batsman is doing rounds of promotion, he has also been receiving a lot of wishes ahead of his debut movie release. The biopic directed by James Erskine, has very few days left for its release but Tendulkar divulged that all the members of his family have seen and enjoyed the film.

The ‘Master Blaster’ mentioned that he has seen the movie at least 20 times and that a few scenes have made him feel emotional. After watching the movie with the Indian army at New Delhi, Tendulkar said that he is soon set to enjoy it alongside Indian cricket team and his childhood coach Ramakant Achrekar.

When asked whether he finds anything missing in the movie, Sachin revealed that the men behind the movie reviewed nearly 10,000 hrs of footage before compiling the two hours and 17-minute film.

When asked about his suggestion to Virat Kohli after his dismissal in the finals of World Cup 2011, Sachin said,

“I told Virat that the ball is still swinging. I wanted to warn him that there was dew present on the field and that the ball was swinging erratically.”

Speaking about the disappointment for not being selected for the West Indies tour ahead of the Pakistan tour in 1989, the 44-year-old said,

“Yes, I was disappointed. At that time, Raj bhai (Raj Singh Dungarpur) was the chairman of the Selection Committee. It was during the semi-finals of Ranji Trophy when Raj bhai met me in the nets and told me that I should focus on my SSC exams. He told me that I will play for India one day but I it was too early to go on a West Indies tour.”

He further added,

“Raj bhai has been extremely supportive throughout my career. It was him, who sponsored my first tour of England. He wanted me to go overseas in order to learn more about the sport. He has played a huge role in my life.”
