India hammered by Denmark 1-4 in the opening tie of Sudirman Cup

TEAM INDIA succumbed to 1-4 defeat at the hands of Denmark in the opening tie of Sudirman Cup held in Gold Coast, Australia.

The opening match was between mixed doubles duo Satwik/Ashwini who put up a good fight but unfortunately couldn't sustain till then end. They lost to experienced pair of Christina Pedersen/Joachim Fischer 15-21, 21-16, 17-21.

Highest ranked men's singles shuttler of India, Ajay Jayaram too lost therefore putting India 0-2 down. He lost in straight games to Viktor Axelsen 12-21, 7-21.

Manu Attri/Sumeeth Reddy too lost their match against Mathias Bor/Mogensen 17-21, 15-21.

The only win for India came from PV Sindhu who defeated Line Kjaersfeldt 21-18, 21-6. As Ashwini Ponnappa/Sikki Reddy to lost their match against Kamilla/Christina 21-18, 15-21, 21-13.

India take on Indonesia tomorrow and it will be a crucial tie.
