17-year-old Sundar's performance absolutely unbelievable: Smith

IN THE PLAY-OFF game of IPL-10, Rising Pune Supergiant restricted Mumbai Indians at 142 and won the game by 20-runs, to reach the finals of the cash-rich league.

After setting a target of 163, promising youngster Washington Sundar dismissed the likes of Rohit Sharma, Ambati Rayudu and Kieron Pollard to provide RPS an upper hand in the second innings. He finished his spell after giving away just 16-runs in four overs. Speaking to IPLT20.com, RPS skipper Steve Smith lavished praise on the 17-year-old and said,

“What an unbelievable performance by a young 17-year old on the big stage. I throw him the ball in the first six overs when the batsmen are going after him and he takes three.”

On the other hand, Sundar was all smiles as he credited his captain for continual support.

“It feels really good, especially to have taken key members of their side on such a big occasion in front of a packed crowd. I think Smith has been really supportive and I would like to thank him for it. Him giving me an opportunity to play ten games in my first edition for an off-spinner, I don’t think any other team would have been willing to do that. I would like to thank him a lot.”
