Virat will be hungry to prove a point in ICC Champions Trophy 2017, says Gayle

WEST INDIES AND ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE batsman Chris Gayle believes that India skipper Virat Kohli, who went through a lean patch with the bat in the recent games, will re-discover his mojo in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017.

The Jamaican batsman feels that Kohli will be hungry to prove a point in the upcoming tournament. As reported by PTI, Gayle also said that the Indian side possesses a lethal batting unit and that they have a good chance of winning the tournament.

"The good thing about T20 cricket is that it's a very quick format compared to ODI cricket, where you can give yourself a chance to bat a bit longer. It gives you more time to get set. With IPL pushed aside now, they (Kohli, Jadhav) will have enough time to regroup.  If the Indian top-order batsmen get set, we all know how dangerous they can be. We all look forward to that. Forget about the current IPL form, all of them are match winners. Everybody will be eager to become a standout man to win the tournament for their team. They will be hungry to prove a point."

Kohli, who missed the initial phase of the ongoing IPL-10, looked well below his best as he struck four fifties in 10 matches. The 28-year-old had managed only 46-runs in five innings during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Despite his recent form, India great Virender Sehwag is confident that the Delhi-lad will bounce back to form in CT 2017. Recently, Sehwag said,

"It (a bad patch) happens with every player. Even if you look at the great Sachin Tendulkar, he hasn't played the same (way) every year. The hallmark of a good player is who can come out of bad form and Virat knows very well how to come back into good form."
