REVEALED: Champions Trophy winner to take home a whopping amount
THE ICC CHAMPIONS TROPHY 2017 is all set to kick off in England on June 1. The 18-day tournament will see two groups of four teams, each vying for the major trophy.
A large pay day is on offer for the team that wins the event as the ICC recently announced an increase of half-a-million dollars in the prize pool for the tournament. It is learnt that the winner of CT 2017 will pocket USD 2.2 million, which is nearly equivalent to Rs 14.1 crores.
It is understood that the team which loses the June 18 final at The Oval will pocket more than $US1.1 million (Rs 7.06 crores) while the two losing semi-finalists will each get $US450,000 (Rs 2.89 crores).
The CT 2017 will also see six warm-up matches before June 1. While Group A of the event will have the likes of Australia, England, Bangladesh and New Zealand, the Group B will have India, South Africa, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
