AB de Villiers reveals his shy and  romantic side

THE CRICKETING WORLD has seen the ruthless and explosive side of South Africa and Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman AB de Villiers. We have seen the swashbuckler thrashing opposition bowlers and smashing boundaries for fun. However, the prolific batsman has now revealed his hidden, shy and romantic side in the field of love.

Speaking about his schooldays, ABD divulged that he used to write romantic thoughts on a piece of paper for the girls he liked. He added that all those letters used to end up at the roof of his house as he never had the courage to give it to them. As reported by PTI, the ‘Mr. 360’ said,

“I am a bit of a romantic — so any girl that I fell for during school days, I would write a letter but the problem with that was I was always too scared to give it to her. I would then go back home with the letter, with a lot of love in there, and I would climb to the roof of our house and I would hide the letter there. So they ended up being around 27-30 letters there at the end of my school career. All of them I was too scared to give it to the girls.”

Speaking about his matured love-life, the 33-year-old said,

“Now that I am a bit older, and have finally got married, I have decided to use all that [experience] to write letters to my wife. Just the other day, when she left for South Africa, I slipped in a little handwritten note into her passport which I knew she would read, once reaching the airport. I got a text message from her a day or two later when she arrived at home saying how much that meant to her.”

De Villiers conceded that RCB did not play as they desired to in IPL 10 and that he has already started gearing up for the upcoming Champions Trophy.

“My next commitment after the IPL is the Champions Trophy, something that South Africa would love to win. India won it last time in England and they have a strong campaign around this year as well.”
