Coming out all guns blazing in Poweplay helped MI chase 199 comfortably, says Amla

KINGS XI PUNJAB batsman Hashim Amla took the world by storm as he struck his maiden IPL ton in 60 balls to guide his team to 199-run total.

The flamboyant opener’s excellent effort went in vain as MI chased the mammoth total with more than four overs to spare. Speaking about the loss, Amla termed MI’s effort as exceptional and attributed their win to the runs scored in the Powerplay.

“Mumbai played exceptionally well. They came out all guns blazing. They managed to play a lot of runs in the Powerplay. That is a crucial factor for them to ease through comfortably.”

Speaking about his century, Amla said that he was glad to have hit some runs.

“I really glad to get some runs. It was a good wicket to bat on. I was glad to get some runs on the board. It is never nice to lose consecutive matches like we have. Hopefully we go to the next venue and get a victory.”

The Punjab franchise will play Gujarat Lions at Saurashtra Cricket Association on April 23.
