Kashyap, the only Indian stalwart at China GPG; should aim for the title on his comeback

AFTER A WEEK of positive results for the men's singles shuttlers of India, Parupalli Kashyap stands a chance to extend that to another week as he gears up for China Grand Prix Gold.

The tournament begins tomorrow with only Kashyap as the star shuttler from India. Looks like the others are training for the next big tournament which begins next week, Badminton Asia Championships (Individuals).

After the Premier Badminton League, this will be the first time that Indian badminton fans will witness Kashyap back in action. And he is all raring to go and perform. Posting pictures and videos of him training, he looks confident and in great shape.

He is through to the second round of China GPG after receiving a bye in first round. His tough challengers include 3rd seed Qiao Bin (China) whom he is likely to face in the third round, 6th seed Kanta Tsuneyama (Japan), 5th seed Hsu Jen Hao (Chinese Taipei) or top seed Lin Dan (China).

Out of the above mentioned threats, Kashyap has a 3-1 lead against Hao while trails 0-2 against Lin Dan. While he hasn't played against Qiao and Kanta before.

This tournament will be a test to see how fit Kashyap is and convert his confidence into results.

There is only other Indian in the tournament and that is youngster Harsheel Dani who plays his first round tomorrow against Chun-Wei Chen of Chinese Taipei.
