It was difficult to make a comeback against RPS after losing the opening two games: Raina

FOLLOWING A SEVEN wicket win against Rising Pune Supergiant, Gujarat Lions skipper Suresh Raina has conceded that it was tough for his side to make a strong comeback in the 10th edition of IPL after losing the opening two games.

Gujarat Lions, who topped the table last season, lost their first and the second game to Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad. After registering their first win, GL skipper told PTI,

“It was difficult for us to comeback strongly after losing the two games.”

The southpaw also lauded debutant seamer Andrew Tye (5/17) who registered the second hat-trick on the same day of IPL. Earlier in the day, RCB leggie Samuel Badree had picked a hat-trick against Mumbai Indians.

"I thought AJ (Tye) bowled brilliantly. He is a very smart cricketer who varies his pace, especially in the death overs."

Raina also showered praise on Brendon McCullum and Dwayne Smith for setting up a comfortable chase.

"Baz (McCullum) and Smith did it for us. They have done it for CSK (Chennai Super Kings) and they did it again today."
