PREVIEW: Churchill Brothers vs Aizawl FC; contrasting aims in one game

EVERY OPPORTUNITY NOT TAKEN is one step backwards. In Round 15, both these teams namely Churchill Brothers and SC Aizawl FC, squandered their respective opportunities to inch closer to their aim. For Aizawl, the aim is the title ambition and for Churchill, it is to lose the dreaded relelgation spot. On Saturday at 4:30 pm, both teams will face off the other with just three points in mind. They do not have any rivalry with each other, nothing common in the aim for, their positions in the table are not even close but still have a lot of riding in this game.

If Churchill
Win - Mumbai FC gets relegated
Draw or Lose - Mumbai FC's hopes of avoiding relgation are still alive

If Aizawl,
Win - It Keeps Aizawl in the hunt for the title
Lose - Gives East Bengal the chance to come back in contention for the title provided they beat DSK Shivajians. Also, Mohun Bagan can take the lead with points if they don't lose their game against Minerva Punjab
Draw - Mohun Bagan can take the lead on points but only if Bagan don't drop points

Form
Aizawl are coming in the game with a loss against Bengaluru FC with an injury time goal. Churchill managed to play a goalless draw away against Mumbai FC. Aizawl had created many chances in their last game. Churchill, played a good possesion game and looked comfortable on the ball against Mumbai FC. Aizawl have 10 points from their last 5 games, Churchill are unbeaten in last five games collecting 11 points on the road.

Final say
It is going to be a neck-to-neck battle and an early goal can really unsettle the team that concedes. Aizawl have slipped in their last game and need three points desparately to stay shoulder-to-shoulder with Mohun Bagan knowing very well they host the Mariners next. Any further slip up can cost them dearly. Churchill would not want to take another game to ensure their safety from relegation. Churchill will be wary of Aizawl's strong comeback to beat them 3-1 at home. On the flip side, Churchill have beaten teams like Mohun Bagan, East Bengal once Derick Periera was given charge.
