Singapore SS: Sindhu, Praneeth & Ashwini/Sumeeth enter QF

TOUGH OUTING for Sai Praneeth, PV Sindhu, Kidambi Srikanth and Ashwini Ponnappa/Sumeeth Reddy but they all emerged winners in their respective matches and enter the quarter-finals of Singapore Super Series.

Praneeth defeated Chinese Qiao Bin 21-15, 21-23, 21-16, the Indian looked confident throughout the match and didn't give up till the end. He next faces a familiar foe, Tanongsak in quarters.

It was the same with Ashwini/Sumeeth as they were down in the first game and came back stronger to win the following two games and earn a place in the quarters. They defeated Jae Kim/Lee So Hee 17-21, 21-17, 21-16. The Indo duo will next face 3rd seeds Lu Kai/Huang Yaqiong.

Sindhu once again had to fight as Fitriani Fitriani made her sweat in the first game and put her under immense pressure. The Indian lost 19-21 first game but as the second game began, her domination began too. She won 21-17 and that gave her confidence as it showed in the final game. Controlling it from the first point, she won it comfortably 21-8. She once again sets up a clash against Carolina Marin if the Spaniard wins her pre-quarter match.

Kidambi Srikanth was on the verge of losing and another terrible loss but he changed the tables as he came back hard to win the match after being down in the first against Mustofa 18-21, 21-19, 22-20. He will next face Chinese 5th seed Shi Yuqi in the quarters.

Ashwini Ponnappa/Sikki Reddy surprised top seeds Ayaka/Misaki when they pushed the match into a decider as they won the second game. But the Japanese duo were a better pair and emerged winners 11-21, 21-19, 12-21. But it is a good sign for the women's doubles in India as they are slowing climbing up and catching up with the best.

Kidambi Srikanth is yet to play.
