Oscar Bruzon has been confirmed as Mumbai FC Head Coach

MUMBAI FC HAVE TAKEN STEPS get into fire-fighting mode as they sign Oscar Bruzon as the head coach. It is fire-fighting as the sword of relegation hangs up on the head of Mumbai FC.

Firmly fixed at the root of the table, Mumbai FC had recently parted ways with under-fire Santosh Kashyap. Interestingly, at the start of the season, Santosh and Mumbai FC declared an ambitious top three table finish as the vision for the season. That came from a club that has had fifth as their best ever finish in the I-League.

Oscar Bruzon, the Spaniard has had stints with India and I-League in the past. He coached Goan team Sporting Club de Goa in the 2012 season and was with them for a couple of seasons. Bruzon coached the side that finished as runners-up of the Federation Cup in the year 2014. He tried his hand at the Indian Super League and the assistant to Nicolas Anelka, the then player-cum-manager of Mumbai franchise Mumbai City FC. However, his time at Mumbai City was short-lived as he left the 2015 ISL season mid-way. In an exclusive interview with TFG, he mentioned that he was more geared towards development and that was one of the reasons he left ISL and Mumbai City FC.

Currently, he had been assisting RCD Mallorca in the second division of the La liga of Spain. As a player he has spent time in the lower divisions of the la Liga in clubs like Universidad LP and Pontevedra. In his coaching career he has managed the youth sides of Celta de Vigo and Areosa CF.

With him back in the city that he has last Indian footballing business with, he will hope to meet their expectations on a very tight deadline.
