Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly may face trouble due to the BCCI’s new constitution

INDIA GREATS Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly may face trouble due to the BCCI’s new constitution set by Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA). The constitution has introduced various new rules in the Indian cricket board.

Earlier, the BCCI had stated the Mumbai Cricket Association will lose its voting rights. However, as reported by Deccan Chronicle, former India skippers Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly may also find themselves in the spot of bother, with the Memorandum of Associations.

Dravid, who is a coach of the India A side, is also a mentor with the IPL franchise Delhi Daredevils, which means that he can be in a direct conflict of interest. The clause in question states,

“A is the Coach of a team. He is also Coach of an IPL Franchisee. A is hit by Conflict of Interest.”

On the other hand, Ganguly’s case is more indirect. The ‘Prince of Calcutta’ is presently the president of the Cricket Association Bengal (CAB). The legendary batsman also co-owns the ISL football side Atletico de Kolkata with Sanjeev Goenka, who separately owns IPL franchise Rising Pune Supergiants.

The clause in the question also states,

“C is a Member of the IPL Governing Council. The IPL enters into a contract with a new franchisee, the Managing Director of which is C’s partner in an independent commercial venture. C is hit by Indirect Conflict of Interest.”
