Prannoy, Sameer, Subhankar & Pranaav/Sikki enter RD 2 of Swiss GPG
DEFENDING MEN'S SINGLES CHAMPION HS PRANNOY began his Swiss Grand Prix Gold on a positive note as he enters round two of the tournament.
The fifth seed had a comfortable victory over David Peng of Germany 21-15, 21-18. He next faces Kieran Merrilees of Scotland.
It was a good outing for youngster Subhankar Dey and 13th seed Sameer Verma. Subhankar had a tough battle to win against Alexander Roovers 17-21, 21-17, 21-15. His next round opponent is Iztok Utrosa from Slovakia. On other hand, Sameer had an easy outing over Gergely Krausz 21-10, 21-16.
Sameer will be up against Japanese Kanta Tsuneyama.
Meanwhile, mixed doubles duo of Pranaav Jerry Chopra/Sikki Reddy got a walkover and proceeds to the next round. The 4th seeds will face Ko-Chi Chang/Hsin Tien Chang. The other Indian duo in this category, Rohan Kapoor/Sanjana Santosh failed to enter round as they lost to Bastian Kersaudy/Lea Palermo 21-16, 21-19.
Women's singles shuttler Krishna Priya was ousted by seventh seed Fitriani Fitriani 21-18, 21-8.
