KKR FOREIGN ASSETS: Kolkata's variety impressive, but Russell's void will be felt

THE TWO-TIME champions have the least number of players in their squad for this year’s IPL. KKR have chosen to restrict their squad to 23 when the maximum limit allotted is 27. In order to keep themselves in contention for the coveted trophy, KKR tweaked their squad, releasing nine players in late 2016. KKR gave away foreign players of the likes  Morne Morkel, Brad Hogg, Jason Holder, Colin Munro, Shaun Tait, John Hastings.

Having released key fast bowlers who formed an integral part of their sides over the last few years, the Kolkata franchise bought nine players, spending Rs 5 crore on New Zealand paceman Trent Boult during the IPL 2017 players auction. The other names in the overseas list are Darren Bravo, Trent Bout, Rovman Powell and Chris Woakes.
