Sindhu, Saina sail into the quarterfinals of All England Championship; Prannoy crashes out

INDIA ACE SHUTTLER PV Sindhu defeated Indonesia’s Dinar Ayustine 21-12,  21-4 to storm into the quarterfinals of the All England Championship. It appeared to be an easy fixture for the Olympic silver medallist as the tie ended in 40-minutes.

Sindhu displayed some elegant smashes and drop shots to steamroll into the next round. In the first round of the championship, the sixth seed Sindhu defeated Danish Mette Poulsen 21-10, 21-11.

Also, Saina Nehwal beat Germany’s Fabienne Deprez 21-18, 21-10 in the pre-quarters.  The German put up good resistance in the first game but her effort fell short in front of a determined Saina. The 26-year-old looked firmly in control of the match, throughout the tie.

While Saina might face third seeded Sung Ji Hyun, Sindhu is likely to face championship favourite Tai Tzu Ying.

Meanwhile, HS Prannoy made an early exit from the championship after suffering a heavy 13-21, 5-21 defeat to China’s Tian Houwei. The shuttler ended India’s campaign in men’s category as he joined compatriots Kidambi Srikanth and Ajay Jayaram.
