UFC 211: Demian Maia reveals why he took The Jorge Masvidal fight

DEMIAN MAIA is all set to face off against Jorge Masvidal at UFC 11 and it had made the fans scratch their heads as Maia was so close to a title shot.

Maia used Facebook to explain why he took the fight with Masvidal instead of waiting for a title shot and claimed that he needed to be active in order to get the gold.

“It’s very simple. They asked me to take a fight, and I was told that I’d have to stay active to get my shot. I am and have been a martial artist, a competitor, and a fighter for over 20 years. This is what I do for a living, it’s who I am. I have a lot of respect for the UFC and Dana White, it’s been almost 10 years, and if this is what I have to do, it makes no sense to wait.” Maia noted.

Maia is riding on a six fight winning streak now when Masvidal also has momentum on his side with three wins in a row.
