East Bengal and Mohun Bagan fans mourn the accidental deaths of 4 football fans over the Kolkata Derby

SUNDAY'S KOLKATA DERBY ended in a mellow goalless draw, but the match will still be remembered as one tainted by the accidental deaths of 4 fans.

The hurry to get to the game or at home became lethal for some of the fans as two East Bengal fans died in a bike accident just before the game. Meanwhile at the Baranagar Railway Station, another East Bengal fan passed away trying to get down from a running train.

Mohun Bagan were not left without grief either. One of their fans fell prey to a bus accident around the same time, taking the season's first Derby's total death toll to 4. 

While all of these are accidental deaths, supporters of both clubs are mourning the passing of their brethren; two arch rivals engaged in a bitter contest only 24 years earlier have now been brought together in grief.
