Praful Patel appointed member of FIFA Finance Committee for 5-year tenure

The All India Football Federation President Mr. Praful Patel was appointed a member of the FIFA Finance Committee (2017-2021) on January 19, 2017.

Mr. Patel was recently also appointed as the Senior Vice-President of Asian Football Confederations (AFC) in December 2016.

Under Mr. Patel’s tutelage, India won the rights to host its first FIFA World Cup, the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017 India and had recently hosted the AFC U-16 Championship in September 2016.

The All India Football Federation had also won the Recognition Award for Grassroots Football in 2014 and the AFC Member Association (Developing) Award for 2016.

The FIFA Finance Committee monitors the financial management and advises the FIFA Executive Committee on financial matters and asset management. It also analyses the FIFA budgets and the financial statements prepared by the FIFA General Secretary and submits them to the FIFA Executive Committee for approval.

This is expected to strengthen global interest in Indian football and bring more the monetaryhelp for infrastructure and grassroot development.
