Malaysia GPG: Ajay & Saina, the only Indians in the quarter-final

AJAY JAYARAM AND SAINA NEHWAL are the only Indian shuttlers to qualify to the quarter-finals of Malaysia Grand Prix Gold after their respective victories.

Top seed Saina had an easy outing over Hanna Ramadini, a straight game victory 21-17, 21-12 while 6th seed Ajay had to fight hard for his victory. A thrilling three game win for the Mumbai lad, 21-12, 15-21, 21-15 over Hsueh Hsuan Yi.

Both play familiar opponents in quarters, Saina will face eighth seed Fitriani Fitriani while Ajay will be up against Anthony Ginting.

Meanwhile, men's doubles Arjun/Shlok Ramachandran lost to Law Cheuk Him/Lee Chun Hei Reginald 21-14, 21-17, Manu Attri/Sumeeth Reddy lost to Markis Kido/Hendra Gunawan 21-17, 18-21, 21-12 and therefore are out of the tournament along with women's doubles duo of Aparna Balan/Prajakta Sawant who lost to Chiang/Hung 21-18, 21-14 and mixed doubles pair Jwala Gutta/Manu Attri were ousted by Ahmad/Widjaja 21-18, 21-10.
