UFC 207: Fights that UFC could make for the winners

UFC 207, in many ways was the perfect show to close out a year and usher in another one, with a new champion crowned and another one being solidified to carry the mantle left vacant, after a fading legend fell yet again in emphatic fashion.
The significance of the wins of both Cody Garbrandt and Amanda Nunes can be put into perspective, just by looking at the legacy of the titles attached to it. Dominick Cruz, the defending champion heading into UFC 207, hadn't lost a fight in almost a decade, while the female bantamweight championship changed hands thrice in a span of 9 months, after Ronda Rousey had lost it to Holly Holm in November, 2015.
Outside of the statistical importance, just the manner in which both champions went about their business on Friday night, showed that more than just a changing of guard, their victories symbolised the evolution of the sport on a larger level, where what was considered to be a recipe for success earlier, isn't necessarily the case anymore.
