Vodafone comes on board as title sponsors of Premier Badminton League 2

WITH THE popularity of Premier Badminton League soaring to great heights and promising to be a bigger, better and much exciting than the last year’s edition, it was quite certain that the league would garner huge interest from the corporate world as well.

And has expected, it attracted a bevy of sponsors including the telecom major Vodafone, who has come onboard as the title sponsor for this year's edition.

“This is an immense pride for Badminton Association of India as the best shuttlers from the world and the corporate bigwigs have come together to make PBL season 2 a grand event. It only goes to show how badminton has become a sport to reckon with,” said Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta, President of BAI and Chairman of PBL.

Talking about the mega association, Mr. Prasad Mangipudi , Manager Director of SportzLive, the Licensee holder of the League said,

“It is a matter of pride will join hands with one of the leading telecomm majors, Vodafone as the title sponsors. Their decision to associate with the league not only shows Vodafone’s commitment towards Indian sports but also their belief in the growing stature of the PBL. I am quite confident that our dedication and their support will help us to take the league to new heights this year.”

The fortnight long event will see a total of six teams including Chennai Smashers, Hyderabad Hunters, Bengaluru Blasters, Delhi Acers, Awadhe Warriors and Mumbai Rockets fight for a prize purse of INR 6 cr, the highest prize for any badminton tournament in the world.

As the best of the shuttlers will be seen in the Vodafone Premier Badminton League Season 2, it has also seen equal response from other key sponsors another industry bigwigs who have joined hands with the season 2 of PBL are Amazon Exclusive, Bajaj Electricals, Gionee and LIC, while the tournament will be powered by Maruti Suzuki and Star Sports will be the official broadcast partners.

The tournament will be shown live on Star Sports  and HotStar and will set the ball rolling from January 1, 2017 in Hyderabad and culminate in the national capital on January 14, 2014 in five cities, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Lucknow, Bangalore and Delhi.
