East Bengal transfer news: good news from Japan and a constant eye on the ISL players

EAST BENGAL HAVE adjusted their transfer targets after losing out on the race to sign Sony Norde, and they are going after a variety of new recruits.

According to word on the Maidan, the Red and Golds are currently in talks with Japanese midfielder Kenta Uchida, who currently plays in Ehime FC, a second tier club in Japan. This 5 foot 10 inch Yokkaichi native has had a notably good season, scoring 4 goals in 16 league appearances. He is reportedly interested in coming to India, especially Kolkata.

Now that it's obvious that East Bengal are not getting Sony Norde, head coach Morgan has turned his eyes on Delhi Dynamos striker Marcelinho Leita Perreira. This 29 year old Brazilian is having a ball at ISL, having scored 9 goals in 13 appearances so far. He's the leading goalscorer of the tournament and will likely be a force to reckon with in the I-League if he decides to join the Red and Golds. If he and the club fail to come to terms, East Bengal will likely pivot towards Antonio German, the British forward currently playing for Kerala Blasters.

Former Shillong Lajong central medio Boithang Haokip, currently with Mumbai City in the ISL, is also reportedly interested to play for East Bengal. Rumours suggest he originally wanted to play for Mohun Bagan, but after it became clear that Jeje Lalpekhlua was going to sign for the Mariners he turned his attention towards East Bengal, a club where he thinks he will get more game time in I-League 2016-17.
