World Championship silver medallist Sonia wins women boxing Nationals

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS silver medallist Sonia Lather (57kg) outclasses Seema Kumari from Bihar to reach the second round of the Women's National Boxing Championship, which is the first National Championship to be held in over two years in the country.

A former Asian Championship silver medallist,  Sonia, representing the Railways Sports Promotion Board, defeated Seema by scoring a technical knockout. 
 
In the bantam weight (54kg), Manipur's Y Sandhyarani shocked RSPB's Chhoutu Loura , a two-time World Championships bronze-medallist , 2-1.

In 82-kg category, Chandigarh’s Tajinder reached the second round after scoring a technical knockout over Bharani Priya of Tamil Nadu.
 
In other 54kg category, Delhi's Soniya saw off Dehradun's Geeta thapa 2-1, Delhi's Shaweta beat Gurwanti of Himachal Pradesh 2-1, Haryana's Shiksha and Meghalaya's Dadarisha L also notched up 2-0 and 3-0 wins respectively over Assam's Jamuna Boro and AP's G Sujatha. MP's Purnima Rajput also blanked Punjab's Parminder Kaur 3-0.
 

In other 57kg category, Babita Solanki beat G Sahara 2-1, Kiran verma spank Sangeeta 3-0, Suparna Das reached 3rd round beating Servanthi of Pondicherry via TKO, Kamla Bist blanked TC Lalaremruati 3-0.
