Play by Play: Delhi were 2 good for FC Goa; Goa have big dents in their chances of the top four finish

IT WAS ANYBODY’S GAME till the goal was scored. FC Goa had many things to prove to their critics mainly being the result department but they failed yet again. Goa started on brighter side. A goal line clearance from Anas preventing Goa from taking the lead very early in the game. Would have been a confidence booster for the team. Mandaar even right the upright on one occasion. But Delhi made the better chances and Gadze leading most of the charges. Pelissari was doing well on the flanks.

Second half was mostly Delhi was showed more firepower with calmness in front of goal. FC having a good defence line were found most of the time defending and blocking shots from Delhi rather than preventing those balls  from penetrating. Then the substitution which made all the difference. Julio Cesar who teamed up with Romeo and Raphael had to leave the field with an injury complaint. Delhi replaced Pelissari with Kean Lewis on his left wing and Marcelinho also came on. Both were influential.First goal was courtesy Marcelino who picked up a long ball from Doblas and the lack of co ordination between Goa players, took the ball to his wing on the left with a sweet left foot beat the keeper from a tough angle. Second goal was a more calm and good team work by Delhi. Again the Goa defence were left in sixes and sevens with man marking out of the window. Three Delhi players placed  themselves in good position. Marcelinho on the right of the 6 yard box and Gadze in the center. Marcelinho calmly headed the ball to Gadze who had space and clinically finished the goal. Badji who came on later in the half also had a clear shot on goal but could only hit the keeper. That could easily have been 3 goals to Delhi.

FC Goa as just sinking every game and Delhi are fairly picking up points whenever opportunity knocks.
