Play-by-Play: ISL GAME 5 - KBFC vs ATK... Lara scores, the visitors sneak through a 0-1 victory

A JAVI LARA GOAL, brought about courtesy a deflection from Sandesh Jhingan, was enough for Altetico de Kolkata to seal a one goal win over Kerala Blasters at Kochi.

The game was marked by end-to-end action from the very start, and both sides created some chances early on. Sameehg Doutie's pacy runs up the wing was especially effective for ATK, and Antonio German was doing the same for Kerala. The first half was goalless, but early in the second half a shot by Lara took a deflection off Jhingan and rolled into the net. ATK had their lead.

Kerala tried their level best to strike back. They switched keeper Graham Stack for Sandip Nandy to have an extra foreigner in the outfield. Towards the end of the game they had 4 foreign strikers on the pitch -- German, Nazon, Belfort and Michael Chopra. But although chances were created the goal never came.

In injury time Belfort was tripped over inside the ATK box, but the referee thought the Haitian striker had dived, and KBFC missed out on the penalty. And soon they ended a goal short, their second defeat in a row. ATK, meanwhile, registered their maiden win in the campaign and went second in the points table with 4 points from 2 games.
