Fighting for Invicta FC was a dream -- In Conversation with Kaline Medeiros

INVICTA 19 is around the corner and Brazilian fighter Kaline Medeiros comes into the pay-per-view on a four-fight winning streak. After making her Invicta debut at Invicta 17, Kaline now has her eyes set on the upcoming Invicta event, where she will fight the debuting Manjit Kolekar.

Manjit comes into the fight with a story of her own. Visa issues had ruined her plans to debut at Invicta 18, but this time around, she is bound to make history by becoming the first Indian fighter to fight at the promotion.

The undefeated 8-0 record of Manjit, however, is not something that troubles Kaline.

At this point of my career, I don't have anything to lose. I love what I do and a fight is a fight, I get ready to fight the best and I push myself to the limit so that I can bring my best to the cage.

I don't really know much about her [Manjit] apart from a few videos on YouTube.

The Kaline – Manjit showdown will take place in the Straw weight category, where Kaline has been fighting for the past few fights.

I fought as I flyweight before because when u start,  it is nice not to worry about cut weight, but the division of flyweights started getting too big for me. So dropping to 115 was the best move for me.

Currently 37, Kaline has a professional record of 7-4 to her name but the journey has not been a cake walk. She struggled during the early parts of her career to find opponents and still works full-time to meet the ends.

When I started MMA, it was hard. Not too many women were fighting at that time. It was hard to find an opponent and it was not enough money to just focus on training. So I always had a full time job and I still working full time, only few women out there is able to live with the fight money only.

Amidst these struggles, Kaline still managed to finds positives in her career and fighting for Invicta has been one among them. After securing wins in Bellator and Legacy FC, she moved to Invicta on a four-fight deal. And she got a great start when she defeated fellow Brazilian Alline Serio via TKO in the second round at Invicta 17. The whole journey has been a dream scenario for Kaline.

Invicta FC, it's been a dream come true. I love all the other promotions that I fought before but Invicta so far is the best. Shannon Knapp has been building so many great fighters here; she means so much for the WMMA. I'm so thankful to be an Invicta Fighter

A close-friend of Amanda Nunes, Kaline also weighed in some opinion about the reigning UFC Bantamweight champion and had a grateful message for her fans.

Amanda has always been my champion. This girl worked so hard to reach where she's at right now and she still has a long journey ahead of her. Amanda is going to be a champion for a long time.

As far as my fans are concerned, they mean so much in my career. I love how they get so involved with us, it's like another family we have out there. Thanks for been so loyal to me.

Invicta 19 takes place on September 23, 2016 at the Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City and is headlined by the interim flyweight title bout between Jennifer Maia and Roxanne Madafferi.
