Karun Nair makes a narrow escape as boat carrying devotees capsizes in Pampa river

INDIA BATSMAN Karun Nair made a narrow escape as two youths went missing after a ‘Palliyodam’ (big snake boat) capsized in Pampa river during the famous ‘Aranmula Vallasadya’ (boat fest) in Kerala.

Sources reported that the accident took place at 11:45 am when the boat was about to reach near the temple for the offering. Rescue boats soon reached the spot and came to the aid of the people on board. Following the directions of the rescuers, Nair was rescued from the sight. When TOI contacted Nair, the young batsman said that he was safe and refused to comment further. 

As reported IANS, an official close to the Aranmula Police station confirmed about the news.

"The boat capsized and immediate rescue services was undertaken and managed to rescue all passengers, while two are still missing."

Nair debuted for the national side during India’s recent tour to Zimbabwe. The 24-year-old enjoyed a good run of form during the ninth edition of IPL. Nair featured in 14 games for Delhi Daredevils and racked 357 runs for the franchise at an average of 35.7.
