Will carry similar approach to Rio like I did in Australia; focused only on badminton: Saina

AS WE APPROACH the month of August, everyone's focus will be shifting towards Brazil, as Rio will host this year's Olympics. India's leading shuttler Saina Nehwal is gearing up for her third appearance and will give her best to win a medal.

At the moment, she is concerned about getting properly acclimatized to the conditions in Rio. Talking to Reuters, she explained,

"It all depends on how you get adjusted to the conditions there, that's more important. There are a lot of things like time difference that will affect us only after we go there. How well you prepare here is not the main thing, but how you take care of the other aspects there is important."

Saina recalled her victory at the Australian Open where her aggression and determination to win was very evident.

"I was not playing like that in the last couple of months. My net (play) was good, and I was very attacking in the tournament. I want to play at the Olympics the same way I play at the tournament."

There have been many instances where players have pulled out of the Olympics, fearing the Zika virus, but nothing stops Saina from focusing on her mission.

"I am going there as an athlete, there is not a single thing other than badminton that I'm thinking about now."
