A shocking exit for Sindhu, while other stalwarts have a winning start at Australia SS

A SHOCKING EXIT BY THE World No. 10 PV Sindhu from the first round of Australian Superseries has left her fans upset. A straight games loss to an opponent against whom she had a lead of 3-0 in the head-to-head count wasn't something everyone expected out of her.

Coming back from a short break, missing out on the Indonesia Super Series Premier, had a great outing at the Uber Cup therefore this performance from her was disappointing.

Meanwhile, seventh seed Saina Nehwal and Tanvi Lad have progressed to the second round having won their first round matches. Saina defeated Joy Lai of Australia 21-10, 21-14 while Tanvi had to fight hard for her win as the game went on for three games. She trumped Tiffany Ho 18-21, 21-14, 21-11.  The World No. 8 will be up against Jin Wei Goh of Malaysia and Tanvi will face fourth seed Wang Yihan of China in round two.

In the men's singles category Kidambi Srikanth and Sameer Verma progressed in round but Gurusaidutt who earned his position in the main draw after winning the qualifying rounds lost his first round match.

Srikanth ousted Ng Ka Long Angus 21-16, 21-12 to set up a clash against Sony Kuncoro while Sameer triumphed over Maulana Mustofa in three game encounter 22-20, 15-21, 21-15 to face Anthony Ginting in round two. Gurusaidutt was defeated by Hu Yun 19-21, 21-12, 15-21.

The lone pair in the men's doubles pair of Nikhar Garg/Anilkumar Raju too ended their campaign as they lost to V Shem Goh/Wee Kiong Tan 12-21, 10-21.
