Saina the only Indian shuttler to qualify for the QF of Indonesia SSP
SAINA NEHWAL is the only Indian shuttler in the quarter-finals of Indonesia Super Series Premier after men's doubles and women's doubles duo lose their respective matches today in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Seeded eighth, she had a comfortable outing against Fitriani Fitriani, defeated her in straight games 21-11, 21-10. With this she extended the head-to-head count to 2-0.
It will be an exciting tie in the quarter-final stage as Saina will face top seed and old foe Carolina Marin of Spain. The head-to-head count is in favour of the Indian, 4-2.
The men's doubles pair of Manu Attri/Sumeeth Reddy were defeated by 6th seed Ko Sung Hyun/Shin Baek Cheol of Korea 18-21, 13-21 while Jwala Gutta/Ashwini Ponnappa's campaign was brought to an end by Huang Yaqiong/Tang Jinhua 9-21, 18-21.
