My job was to go out there and take on the spinners, says MI all-rounder Krunal Pandya

KRUNAL PANDYA hammered a 37-ball-86 before bowlers took charge as Mumbai Indians pounded Delhi Daredevils by a comprehensive 80-run margin to jump to the third spot in the points table. The 25-year-old said that the message to him was very clear and that was to take on the spinners.

As reported by cricbuzz, the MI all-rounder spoke about the idea behind his promotion to number three.

“When I went in at No. 3, the message was clear - I had to go (after) the spinners. There were two leg spinners and one left-arm spinner. So, in between Martin helped me a lot, (he) was guiding me. We discussed that, 'you stay back, play through the innings and I will take the charge.”

The all-rounder who hails from Baroda, acknowledged MI opener Martin Guptill’s presence during their stand.

"That was the plan. When I went inside and played a couple of balls, I said, 'Martin, I will go.' On that kind of wicket you need one batsman to play till 15-16 overs so you can lay the foundation for the other players. My job was clear that I have to go there and play my shots."
