Indian Women’s team lose the series against Great Britain

IN THE FINAL GAME of the 5 match series India lost to the home side 7-0.

The first quarter saw the home side make a host of attacks and they managed to break the Indian defence as Shona McCallin opened the scoring in the 12th minute. Great Britain won two penalty corners in the first quarter, but were denied from adding to their tally courtesy of some brilliant defending by the Indian women’s team. The first quarter ended with a score of 1-0.
 
The 2nd  quarter saw another flurry of attacks from the home side as the Brits won two back to back penalty corners, but India's defence held strong to deny them another score. India too had their chance to equalize via a penalty corner but failed to convert. Just when it looked like the Indian women were getting back into the game, the home side further added to their tally by converting a penalty corner. At half time Great Britain were leading by 2-0. The second goal was scored by Susannah Townsend (28’) via a rebound. 

The home side kept pressing and won a penalty corner immediately after half time which they managed to convert via Crista Cullen in the 38th minute. The home side completely unleashed their attacking prowess as they managed to score another 2 goals in quick succession, one of them came via a penalty corner by Kate Walsh in the 42nd minute and the other one was scored by Helen Walsh in the 44th minute. At the end of the  3rd quarter the visitors were trailing by 5 goals.

Susannah Townsend scored two goals in the final minutes of the match to end up 7-0 winners.
