We bowled like champions and it feels good to have complemented our batters: Russell

KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS brought the curtains down on Kings XI Punjab with a seven run at the Eden Gardens stadium. Andre Russell’s four-wicket haul helped the hosts seal their sixth win of the season.

West Indies all-rounder Russell had to defend 11 runs in the final over and rose to the occasion by bowling a brilliant over. The Jamaican reckoned that the bowlers did a sensational job in defending the total. As reported by iplt20.com, the 28-year-old said,

"The last game against RCB, me and Yusuf did well. But this match was important too and we bowled like champions. Our batters have been doing the job most of the time and we had been letting them down earlier.”

Russell ended with figures 4-20, becoming the top wicket-taker of the ongoing season. The purple cap holder added,

"But we proved ourselves tonight. We were trying to get 180 but their bowlers bowled yorkers very well. But we knew 160 was defendable on this ground. We had to bowl to our field, build pressure and take wickets."
