Kings XI Punjab sign Hashim Amla as a replacement for injured Shaun Marsh

SOUTH AFRICAN OPENER HASHIM AMLA is all set to replace injured batsman Shaun Marsh for the Kings XI Punjab in the ongoing season of IPL. The Aussie opener was ruled out of the cash-rich tournament on Monday due to a back injury. The southpaw had a decent season, where he scored a half-century and two 40-plus scores in six games.

None of the franchise owners were keen on signing the Protean earlier this year, where he remained unsold for the base price of Rs 1 crore. The 33-year-old who recently stepped down as South Africa’s Test captain in January this year is yet to debut in the league. He scored two fifties in the recently concluded WCT20, tallying 120 runs in four matches.

It is understood that clearances for Amla’s stint with the team have been obtained and he is expected to join the Punjab squad soon.
