Saina Nehwal storms into the semi-final of Badminton Asia Championship

FIFTH SEED SAINA NEHWAL stormed into the semi-finals of Badminton Asia Championship held in Wuhan, China. She defeated an old foe in the quarters, third seed Wang Shixian from China by straight games, 21-16, 21-19.

As the match started, Saina was in full control of her shots and maintained the lead but slowly Wang was trying to get back into the match. Though it seemed that Wang would catch up, Saina was determined enough to win the game without making any unforced errors.

In the second game, Wang put up a tough challenge which made Saina move around the corners of the court. At the interval, the Chinese was leading but soon after that the Indian shuttler got back into the game and from thereon it wasn't easy to defeat Saina.

With this win Saina has also levelled the head-to-head count with Wang, 7-7.

In the semi-finals, Saina will face yet another Chinese Wang Yihan who dominates the head-to-head count, 10-4.
