I have improved a lot as a person after my marriage, says Gujarat Lions skipper Raina

GUJARAT LIONS beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets yesterday to mark their fourth win in five matches in the ongoing IPL. T20 specialist Suresh Raina, who has donned the role of captaincy for Gujarat Lions has had a huge contribution in his side's success this season, be it with the bat or on the field.

The southpaw who recently got married has credited his wife for his success in the IPL. In an interview with iplt20.com, Raina said,

“I think I have improved a lot as a person after my marriage. I have become very calm and responsible."

Raina said his wife has no problem with him spending time with teammates and that she understood and supported him well.

“She encourages me to spend more time with my teammates even if that means I don't have enough time left for her. Her support and understanding has given me more opportunities to form a bond with this new team, understand my players and gel them together.”

The 29-year-old heaped plenty of praises for Rising Pune Supergiants skipper MS Dhoni and his former teammates from the now defunct Chennai Super Kings.

“I have learnt a lot from the likes of Baz, Bravo, Fleming and MS Dhoni. I have spent a lot of time with MS over the last 10-15 years and I have seen how he goes about his job as a captain before and during a game. I learnt during my time with CSK; you have to be respectful of your opponent when you win and at the same time you need to keep setting your bar higher. I am just trying to practice all that with my team.”
