Sindhu, Jwala/Ashwini in round two, Prannoy enters pre-quarters of China GPG

WORLD NO. 10 WOMEN'S SINGLES SHUTTLER PV SINDHU had an easy and comfortable win in her opening match at the China Masters Grand Prix Gold. The fourth seed defeated Japanese player Natsuki Nidaira in straight games 21-16, 21-12. In round two she will be up against either Chien Hui Yu or Peng Qin.

Women's doubles pair of Jwala Gutta/Ashwini Ponnappa are back on winning ways after they defeated Mei Kuan Chow/Meng Yean Lee of Malaysia in the first round of China Masters Grand Prix Gold.

It just took 38 minutes for the Indian duo to oust Chow/Lee in straight games 21-16, 21-18. In round two they will either face Hsieh Pei Chen/Wu Ti Jung or Anastasia Tyurina/Daria Tyurina.

Akshay Dewalkar/Pranaav Jerry Chopra are also through to the second round in the men's doubles category. The unseeded Indian duo defeated Yong Kai Terry Hee/Kean Hean Loh 21-18, 21-13.

Meanwhile, seventh seed men's singles shuttler HS Prannoy enters pre-quarters after an easy second round win over Huang Yuxiang of China in straight games 21-13, 21-11. He next faces Darren Liew of Malaysia.

On the other hand Manu Attri/Buss Sumeeth Reddy who recently ended as runners-up at the Peru International Challenge had a surprising exit in the first round. The eighth seeds were ousted by Ruud Bosch/Oliver Leydon-Davis, 19-21, 16-21.
