Mumbai Indians select Jaipur as the venue to host their home games

THE MUMBAI INDIANS have chosen the Sawai Man Singh stadium in Jaipur as their ground for the home matches in the current season of the Indian Premier League after the Bombay HC moved 13 matches out of the drought-hit state of Maharashtra.

The franchise was given options between Kanpur, Jaipur and Raipur, but MI went in for the Rajasthan capital to host their home games.

As reported by PTI, IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla said,

"We had given Mumbai Indians three options --- Jaipur, Kanpur and Raipur. The Mumbai Indians told us that they would like to play their home matches at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur. Accordingly, the IPL and IMG officials will be going to Rajasthan tomorrow in order to to speak to the state government."

The former home ground of the Rajasthan Royals franchise, the SMS stadium has a wicket that is most suited for batting with a quick outfield to go with it.

MI will have played four home games at their regular venue- the Wankhede stadium, before they shift their base to Jaipur for the remaining three home matches in May.

The other Maharashtra franchise, the Rising Pune Supergiants have selected Vishakapatnam as their home venue for their matches next month.
