MI rope Martin Guptill in place of the injured Simmons for the rest of IPL

DEFENDING CHAMPIONS MUMBAI INDIANS have roped in attacking Kiwi opener Martin Guptill into their squad for the rest of the IPL after the Windies batsman Lendl Simmons withdrew from the tournament citing injury.

At the player’s auction early in the year, many experts were perplexed at how all the eight franchises ignored Guptill despite a string of good performances. However, the Kiwi hit back with some more breath-taking shots in the recently concluded WT20 and once again made a resounding statement.

And now, the opener finds himself as a part of the Mumbai Indians squad and will soon be opening the batting in matches to come.

Mumbai Indians will play the next match against the Gujarat Lions at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday and it will be interesting to see if Guptill takes part in that game.
