Just one bad day at office, wrong to write us off: Zaheer

DELHI DAREDEVILS' SKIPPER ZAHEER KHAN believes it was an off day for his side and that there are good things in store, after suffering a humiliating defeat in their opening match.

Daredevils are yet to win the coveted trophy and will be even more desperate to end their bad phase at the earliest. The new-look team slumped to their seventh sub-100 total after getting all out for 98, a target the Knight Riders chased comfortably in 14.1 overs at Eden Gardens last night. But skipper Zaheer Khan believes it would be wrong to write them off as the season has just begun.

At the post-match press conference Zaheer said,

"Well, I'm smiling. I know it's been a tough day out there for us but it was just one bad day. It's just the beginning of the season, and I hope things will come along. Good things are in store."

Zaheer said he was pleased with the energy and approach with which his team walked on the field. The left arm pacer maintained that it is a long tournament and they’ll bounce back stronger.

Zaheer cut his side some slack saying,

"I'm just happy with the way the boys have carried themselves on the field. The way the bowlers showed intent of taking wickets."

Zaheer praised Kolkata Knight Riders for their impressive bowling. He said,

"They hit the right areas and held it together. I'm happy to see this kind of wicket. You have to give credit where it's deserved. After the first two overs, KKR bowlers really, really held it together and put pressure back on us."
